I know of a few 170s that have dropped their software maintenance after
upgrading to V5R3 since it is the last OS upgrade available for that model
and they have no other LPPs to carry forward to a new box. PTFs are covered
by IBM's hardware maintenance and their application software vendor will be
supporting V5R3 as a platform for several more years.
