For an AFP or IPDS report, run it through the IBM Infoprint Server and you
will get a nice PDF that can be sent to an outsourcer for printing via
email, ftp or however you want.

Infoprint Server is only $1- 3K I believe and definitely worth it.

We recommend this option for our WebDocs and iSeries Report Delivery
customers now because it does such as nice job of conversion and we've
built interfaces to capture and route or store the PDF that gets created
from Infoprint.

Subject
Outsourcing spooled file

We are at the end of our lease on a printer we have been using for five
years. The spooled files go through iConvert software then into the
Xerox printer.

We bought an HP5550 to handle normal daily work that is in addition to
our desktop printers.

We have asked our purchasing dept to get quotes for outsourcing the
large printing jobs - 30,000+ pages. We intend to send the spooled file
to the vendor. One vendor says it must be a PDF. That is not an option.
We are moving off the AS/400 in a couple of years so this is just a
temporary solution.

Two questions:
(1) Do you know of a vendor such as Kinkos or Moore that handles print
jobs from a spooled file?
(2) How would I get the spooled file prepared to send to our server or
via e-mail?
Don't think a *SAVF would work. Cannot CPYSPLF - advance function
printing.

Thanks for your help.
