But having had to restore a whole PC when it was 
on these versus on independent platforms it makes a huge difference. 


I've never understood that comment, and I hear it all the time. The
IXA/IXS/etc solution is nothing more than a SAN or at least an
external-DAS storage solution. What can you do by way of a PC "restore"
that you can't do w/a SAN or a disk array connected to 2 PCs?
