Where, what location, in mass over the past few years we lost several shops too, w/no new shops cropping up. I'm very discouraged by it. -----Original Message----- From: agnictsr@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Mon, 11 Dec 2006 4:02 AM Subject: Another one bites the dust I was informed here on Friday that the AS400 (iSeries) will be replaced in the coming year by I think it is an Oracle based system, no idea of what hardware it will run on. I think that timescale is a little optimistic but it matters not, another one goes and one of the main reasons that the guy gives (although I feel it is just one excuse he can point to) is the lack of skilled programmers. Saying that he seems to have been on a crusade for about 9 years to replace the box. I personaly do not see it as there always seems to be enough going for the contracts against me, but it does seem to be re-iterated, like a broken record, by a number of people. Whatever the reason, another nail in the iSeries coffin. Steve
