create a ping60.bat file like this, and in your VPN menu under Options 
--> Application Launcher there is a place to tell vpn to run it when 
ever it gets connected.

@echo off
echo Ping xxxx every 60 seconds.
echo Type Control-C to end or close cmd window.
:Again
echo Ping %Date% %Time%
PING xxxx -n 1 > NUL
PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 60000 >NUL
goto Again


and change  xxxx to your System i address/name.
