Advanced Systems Concepts tool called Viewpoint allows the users to generate their own data into Excel format. The IT guys can set up templates for them to use, so that they don't hose your system performance. Plus, Viewpoint does not use ODBC for its interface, so you benefit there as well. -- Paul Nelson Arbor Solutions, Inc. 708-670-6978 Cell pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx -----midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: ----- To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> From: daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: 11/22/2006 01:32PM Subject: Re: Download to EXCEL from Relational DB There are products like Showcase from SPSS that let you build queries that you can link or copy and paste into Excel. We use it here and it works well. If you have the Client Access ODBC driver installed you can pull records into Microsoft Access and move it from there into Excel. That's kind of a roundabout way of doing it, though. You can use Client Access to export data to a CSV file that can be opened in Excel. The problem is that the data files are setup in a "relational" manner, not a flat file. Is there any PC product that will allow me to define the relationship between the files but have that complexity hidden from the end user?
