Chicago:
I'd like the fact that you could drive.
However, if I remember correctly, most of the hotels in the conference
area charge $$/day for parking. And lunches were quite expensive in the
past. I do remember going out to eat at one nice Italian restaurant.
However the local attendee who drove was quite nervous. Seems he didn't
like the fact that we were eating quite close to someplace called Cabrini
Green (he had a nice car). Sounds like our one plant in the city with the
bullet holes in the conference room - strays from the subsidized housing
across the street. In Chicago, I did find one inexpensive hotel not far.
However the hole in the window, the stain on the floor and the fact that
the few cars on the block that still had windows in them had stickers to
be towed away was a bit disconcerting.
