Why does no one ever use the Washington, DC or Atlanta area?
Can't answer for DC but anywhere with a large number of civil servants and defense contractors tends to have horrifically high room rates etc. Also local travel is horrific so locals won't attend. Ask Don Rima - he has to run his road shows in four locations (when in most areas two at most would be needed) simply because people won't cross the river etc. COMMON has been in Atlanta, so has IBM Tech conference - but the downtown hotels have become very expensive and out-of-town people aren't interested in events at the perimeter hotels which are at least vaguely affordable.
