Sure. If your "SQL database" happens to be Oracle/DB2/or another DRDA compliant database. --The iSeries can talk to DB2 and other DRDA databases out of the box. --Oracle offers a product called "Transparent Gateway for AS/400" (BIG $$$) that allows the Oracle DB to see the iSeries DB as another Oracle DB _AND_ allows the iSeries DB to see the Oracle DB as another DRDA DB. --Otherwise, IBM ( and other 3rd parties<?>) (BIG $$$) have products that install on a PC and use ODBC/ADO/JDBC to connect to the remote DB while appearing to the iSeries as another DRDA DB. The IBM product is called "IBM WebSphere Information Integrator". Why websphere when it is really a DB2 production I don't know. Just set up a DDM file pointing to the table. It's too bad that IBM is the only DB vendor that chooses to use a publicly published standard protocol to access its database (DRDA). I know the alternative is to invest in a product like DataMirror or Mimix to create a duplicate copy of the data on my AS/400 but I'd like to eliminate the mirrored copy if possible. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
