Greetings: There is a Robert Heinlein (sp?) science fiction story in which candidates for something (officer school, I think) are given a pointless and interminable task - which is also very difficult to do correctly - as part of a qualification test. The main character simply gives up after a while, with the observation that if that is what is expected of him then he won't fit in. He passes. Darrell Darrell A.
