I think the reference is to a SW package that already has the hooks or 
interfaces to another package so someone doesn't have to spend a lot of 
time building a custom interface between the apps.

Something like SW package A is an Inventory App  while the Shipping SW is 
from another vendor but works seamlessly with A and very little 
customizing had to be done.

something to an existing system?
