While we are on this subject, is there any way to update the QUTCOFFSET
system value automatically when Daylight Saving Time changes?
I know you can use SNTP but you need this system value to set the time and
change system values QDATE and QTIME.

To me it is the Daylight Waste of Time considering the effort that goes
in to the effort involved in implementing the change across our society
(not just in IT).

The correct name is Daylight Saving Time, with no 's' after saving!

It was invented by Benjamin Franklin as "Daylight Candle Saving Time",
but not first adopted until WW1 to save fuel.

Oh, it's real time. If I happened to be awake I could call at 3AM on
Christmas Day and get an operator. I've gotten calls from them at 1AM

in the past when there were issues with backups.

The service provider we use has a fair number of other iSeries
clients,
including other global companies. They themselves have multiple
facilities and teams of staff, not just a couple of individuals.

At least one of their technical staff monitors this list and replies
on
occasion.

Operations - 27x7 monitoring for system messages, tape handling,
backups
and offsite tape rotation, scheduled
procedures, some calls to IBM support (mostly for hardware issues
like
failed disks).

Is that real time or what Operations would have you believe... ;-)
