PPPPP Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Man, a lot of this should have been discussed beforehand. Getting past that... Will they let you use your own tapes for that tape unit or are they expecting you to use some custom backup software, like a Tivoli solution? If so, does that solution have a Client for the i5? I don't think Tivoli does. If you can use your own tapes, then you need to find out what this tape drive is, and if that is supported. That CPU unit is often called the system unit, or the CEC, pronounced "keck". That "disk drive unit" should also support several cards in the back and may be called an expansion unit. What model of expansion unit is it? A common model is 0595. Not to be confused with a 595 big frigging i5. Rack mounted, or stand alone?
