More specifically, the AJS holiday calendar also allows "generic" dates, so you can specify 10/31, 11/30, 12/31 and the AJS will pick the correct day. One exception to this rule is February. You'll need to add the exact date, such as 2/28/2006, 2/29/2008. Holiday calendars can also use special values *MON, *TUE, etc to exclude days of the week, and I believe it can also use other calendars.
