Assuming that USEOPTBLK was set to the default of *YES on the 3570 save,
there is no way to copy the tape to 8mm.  You must restore it and re-save
it.

Hi:

I need to copy a 3570 tape to an 8 mm tape. Both drives are attached to
the same system. The target drive has more space per tape than the source
drive, but the sector sizes are different (or something like that - I may
be using the wrong term).

I know I can restore the contents of the source tape to DASD and then save
that in turn to the target tape. I am trying to eliminate that step.
Possible? If so, beginning in what OS version? We are currently at OS/400
V5R2.
