Use JTOpen (http://jt400.sourceforge.net/) to run your command? Or maybe create a stored procedure that accepts a command and runs it on the host... With the appserver in the DMZ, you will need to open some ports for that server to reach the iSeries. It might be a little easier to manage if you host the application on the iSeries, and use the apache server in the DMZ to serve as a reverse proxy, so that you can protect your iseries from public scrutiny. I haven't done enough of this, so I hope to see other suggestions for this.... The Tomcat server that front ends the web app uses java servlets and is on a PC outside the dmz. (i think). The iseries has no idea it exists. However, the iseries can ping the outside world so communication is possible. Would I do best by running Tomcat on my iSeries and have the Tomcat server on the windows pc outside the dmz send a servlet request to my iseries? Or is there a better way? All opinions are most welcome. Thanks Shannon O'Donnell
