Datalink fields look very interesting
Not sure those would work for you. Part of the advantage of a Datalink is that is also prevents the deletion of the file in the file system if it's referred to by a row in the database (IIRC). However, I don't see how they could enforce that when the file is on another platform. I'd be surprised if datalink type supported files that weren't in the IFS. -Walden
