Whoops! meant "I believe we have fewer ERRORS this way." J Jerry Draper wrote:
The best one I have can is/could be totally automatic. We have an on line store where our salesfolk enter their orders on a daily basis. It is not open to the public so there is no "payment" required. It eliminates data entry on our part and puts the burden on the salesfolk (not that they are good at entering orders). I believe we have fewer orders this way. The store is up all day and night and is accessible from anywhere there is internet access with the browser of your choice. We use Miva Merchant but you could use any store builder pgm like OSCommerce, etc. It is running on Linux at an ISP.At 6am the store: 1. Goes offline 2. Orders are batched 3. Batch is exported as a tab delimited file at store ( 4. Store goes back online. At 7am the AS400 CL runs that: 1. FTPs to the store and GETs the batched orders (orders.dat). 2. Does a CPYFRMIMPF to a PF on the AS400 3. Process batch into normal order processing routine Jerry
