Tar works great on iSeries. You need 5722SS1 option 30 installed (should be there already). You can run the tar command from a CL program using something like this: CHGVAR VAR(&W_CMDSTR) VALUE('tar -xfv ' || &STMF + |> '\*.dat') QSH CMD(&W_CMDSTR) Make sure your path includes /usr/bin (it should unless someone changed it).
