In the paperwork will be somes docs labelled as "Urgent" or "Required" or similar. I don't have a set in front of me. As Rob suggestedin other post, your BP may do this for you (but I have not had that experience). It requires a pc to get to the IBM Key Center website and login & get the keys, but
the i5 does not have to be connected.A 2nd question: your preloaded system will most likely have a cume preloaded, but not always the latest cume. A DSPPTF command and the 1st screen the TLxxxx will give you the cume level you are at. Check the Support website to see if a later cume. With V5r4 fairly new, I would keep up with cumes. IBM no longer auto ships a cume set with
new shipment, but if your BP is good - they will order it with machine. With cume comes DB2 group ptfs and hiper group ptfs - very important! We've had lots of discussion about the order to load these -- i stick to the instructions & do not deviate. I also read the instructions completely before starting - you can get in trouble with
missing pre-reqs, or not enough reserved space, or ptfs identified as bad. jim franz----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Barber" <mboceanside@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

There must have been at least 5 different boxes almost full of CDs. I started going through the boxes but the descriptions were very typical and was killing my time. I wondered about those keys cause I did not see the normal paperwork with the key info. This box does "not" have any pc attached. Is that going to be a requirement to get the keys on ??? During the initial IPL, the system asked for acceptance of all the licensed products. I "accepted" and it went on it's merry little way. I have a feeling that has something to do with the keys but I'm not 100% on that. I got to do some reading on this subject. This is a "Express" machine and everything appeared to be preloaded and the system was even mirrored up, which was a little bit of a surprise. I wonder if the keys are handled by that procedure ??? Jim Franz wrote:fyi - in the software box should have been a cd of the Information Center. I like the old manuals myself, but have had to resort to Info Center cd whenI did not get such a quick support response. Also - did you apply the encrypted keys to the product licenses yet? That now requires a net connection for at least your pc to get the keys. They are no longer shipping the paper with each keyed product.Machine & products will run with warnings on qsysopr for 70 days till keysapplied. jim franz--This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing listTo post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
