Alright...more progress. I was apparently looking at the wrong syntax diag for IF statement...found the right one. So, I have successful syntax. However, now I have a new message I have no idea about. What is QSYSPRT and how do I check it? [SQL7032] SQL procedure, function, or trigger SPCONTACTIMPORT1 in DEVDTA not created. Cause . . . . . : SQL procedure, function, or trigger SPCONTACTIMPORT1 in DEVDTA was not created. The compile was not successful. SQL creates an SQL procedure, function, or trigger as a C program that contains embedded SQL. Errors not found during the initial parsing of the CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE FUNCTION, or CREATE TRIGGER statement can be found during the precompile. Recovery . . . : If a compile error occurred, see the precompiler listing in QSYSPRT. I think I understand what you are trying to do....you're not even close. Take a look at the SELECT INTO statement in the SQL Reference.
