Kirk,Hmmmm....I followed your lead and did a display PTF and every one of the "downloaded" PTF's from Fix Central had either been superseded or permananently applied on our system. Here is what I see on the "Summary" page on fix central (which doesn't look that great as text):
---------------------------------------------------- Summary Download successful The Fix Central function has been completed. The fixes you ordered have been downloaded to your system. For information on how to apply the fixes see the "Load and apply information" section below.
The following information is a summary of the processed order. I thought Fix Central checked the status of the ordered PTF's on your box first, before ordering or downloading them. In this case the "Downloaded" ones were actually already present on the system in one form or another.
Now I am really confused! Pete kirkg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote:
I don't remember where for sure the PTFs go when you say download immediately, but I think they end up on the iSeries. Now if you only DL'd a couple of PTFs and you know the numbers, you could just do a DSPPTF and find them. then do a LODPTF and APYPTF as required after reviewing the cover letters. I have in the past done a DSPPTF to an outfile and then queried that file excluding statuses perm, temp, superceeded etc to get the a list of PTFs that need to be loaded and or applied. GO LICPGM option #50 might tell you something as might DSPLOG QHST around the time of the download. If you are brave you could just so a GO PTF option #8 and tell it the device is *SERVICE._____________________ Kirk Goins CCNA Systems Engineer, Manage Inc. So far my involvement with Fix Central has been to order fixes and use FTP to pull the images down. This works well, when it does work. This last go-around I tried something different and I am not sure how to proceed.Fix Central gives you the option to order by FTP, mailed Media or download immediately. I downloaded immediately and the PTF's show "Downloaded". The link for "help" takes you to Management Central where you are instructed to use fixes inventory option to find and apply the PTF's. Taking the "Install Software Fixes" option ran through processing all fixes for all products. It first showed the status of "Available" and then went to a status of "No fixes to available to process".So, if the PTF's *were* downloaded (and Fix Central has been a little flaky lately) then where are the fixes and how do I load them? Unfortunately the help text in Fix Central appears to be no help at all.I am sure there must be documentation on how to do this somewhere. If I can find it, I'll RTFM.Pete
