Hi Cyndi It's not a book, and I know it's RPG III, but there's an online tutorial at www.texas400.com that may help to get him started with the basics. After that, I would probably recommend Mark McCall's "The AS/400 Programmers Handbook" volumes I & II as well as Bob Cozzi's "The Modern RPG IV Language" and the IBM Redbook "Sorcerer's Guide..." All the best Jonathan -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cyndi Bradberry Sent: 24 July 2006 13:31 To: 'MIDRANGE-L@midrange. Com' (E-mail) Subject: Beginner RPG Programming books ? Help, I have a 17 yr old who has nearly completed his CCNA and now would like to learn RPG / AS400 (nom du jour) programming. He has listened to his dad & I talk about how there will be a shortage of programmers when I reach retirement age. He would like to be there to step into the gap. I have access to a 150 that I can set up at home for him to start learning on. But I need some suggestions for books, preferably classroom style, that he can start working on. TIA for suggestions.
