Re: SDLC, 2793 and IOP-less mode

I didn't specify the any connection types when I ordered the machine from IBM (it is under the developer program). We have a communications utility on our model 800 (which is being retired) and the new i5 was looking for an SDLC resource when we fired the utility up. We use the utility pretty infrequently so it isn't a big deal.

What you are seeing is the result of IBM changing the default
configuration of the 520 and not including an IOP as a base feature. To
help you one of us would need to look at your rack config to see if
there is an IOP available to support the 2793. If there isn't then you
would have to buy a 2844 to install in the 520 as a first step.

Did your business partner discuss your requirement for SDLC with you? It
sounds like they missed something to me. You should probably go back to
them and have them get the configuration correct.
