It sounds like you have been using VB.NET because with C# edit and continue in debug is pretty limited. For example, you cannot edit and continue with the current statement in C#, which is almost always the statement you want to change. The edit and continue in Eclipse has been around for a few years and supports a much broader range of changes than VS 2005 with C#.
