Greetings: About two weeks ago, somebody asked about a "RGZPFM API." The answer had information that I already knew, but I have a further question. Until a few weeks ago, we used a utility that acted as a front end to RGZPFM. However, it was written for OS/400 V3 (or earlier!). We're on V5R2; we are in the first stages of considering an OS upgrade, and my conversation with the vendor was a bit unsettling. Something about, "Heck, you still using that thing? We haven't supported it in years. It should be OK, though. Who knows?" that bothered me, upgrade or not. I'm looking at using STRDSKRGZ as a replacement, specifying a time limit, running it periodically (say, on weekends) to get our disk usage down a bit. Our main ASP is in the 60%-65% range right now, so we aren't hitting our heads on the ceiling, but the trend line is very steadily rising. Am I correct in thinking that STRDSKRGZ is a "global" version of RGZPFM? If STRDSKRGZ won't do the trick, is there a way to use RGZPFM itself more "globally" than one file/member at a time? I can probably figure out a way to write a program to do it, and there are certainly commercial utilities that manage disk space, but I'm looking for something more in the middle. Maybe a free utility, or some CL I can plagiarize. Darrell Darrell A.
