You might want to investigate the use of authority holders. They only apply to program-described files like those created by BLDFILE or BLDINDEX in the S36EE. You create the authority holder and then grant the authorities you want to it. The authority holder can exist before the *FILE object exists and once the *FILE object is created, it has the same authority as the authority holder. The authority holder will preserve the authorities if the *FILE gets deleted and recreated within the S36EE. ---------------------- Scott A.
