Thanks for the reply Scott. To clear up my comments regarding the use of FTP and PCs is that all this is to support the monthly dissemination of a proprietary database which is used on AS400's in a particular industry. Many of the Iseries boxes are in-store and there are no PCs available. These are not boxes controlled by us, they are managed by customers of our customer. Up until now no human intervention was required to receive and update the data other than placing a CD in the AS400 reader. A nightly job checked to see if a CD was present and hadn't been read yet.
I'd just use the IFS APIs to read the CD........ it's easy enough to
make it work any way you like. Hmmm, I like that and it is actually is the most desirable solution because there is some logical checking that does need to be done.
This'll work back to V3R2 (if proper care is taken)
Thankfully, the customer who needed that version of the stuff finally got "modern" a year ago and we were able to take our venerable F10 and put it in storage. Regards Steve Moland
