I have some source code saved on a Sys/38 that I would love to get to but can't touch the tapes. IBM Support say's sorry can't do that. This makes me laugh. I worked on a project back in the Sys/38 days that was the construction of a nuclear Power Plant. When the project was over we had to archive all our systems because of NRC rules. We all knew that the round tape media had a limited life, but none of us thought about the format becoming obsolete so fast. So much for retrieving those records in a "half life". -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces+doug.hart=itt.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces+doug.hart=itt.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rob@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, June 13, 2006 9:11 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Tape conversion Irrelevant. You still don't need to "resave" them. I kept our development machine at V4R5 specifically for this reason but don't want to restore all the libraries (which include system libraries) and then save at the new level. Is there a tape to tape method to convert libraries from one version to another ? Or a better way ? ************************************ This e-mail and any files transmitted with it are proprietary and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
