From our internal problem ticket database:

IFS SAV was aborted on the evening of Monday August 22 (sic 2005). Initial 
attempt was to ENDJOB, then ENDJOB *IMMED, then finally with ENDJOBABN. 
However numerous IFS objects were left locked causing a rash of problems. 
It took an IPL to recover.

Did you use ENDJOBABN by any chance to kill your backup?
