There is a system value, QSTRUPPGM which be default refers to a retrievable
CL program QSTRUP in QSYS. Most people retrieve the CL into QGPL, modify
the program, put it in QGPL, with the same name, and then change the system
value to refer to the object in QGPL.

Beware, the program QSTRUP in QSYS changes from release to release, so you
need to put onto your new release list of to do's to re-retrieve and
re-modify that program. When I retrieve mine, I call the retrieved source
member QSTRUPvrm, where vrm stands for version, release and modification.
So my retrieved program for V5R4M0 is QSTRUP540.

Thank you. I'm not sure where to find the "start up" program ??

Add to you start up program, chglind ....

Change the line description now to online at IPL *NO. You can make that
change with it live.

As to performance increase, that depends on you network traffic. BUT at
10M most switches are only half duplex so make sure you can run 100M
Full duplex on the hubs / switches as well as the adapter card. Also
make sure the AS400 is plugged into a switch, not a hub. Big difference
will be see there.

I see that my Line Description for my Ethernet adapter is set to Half
Duplex. I as using unmanaged Hubs/switches which will adjust to the
AS/400 settings. Will it be a noticeable performance improvement to
switch that to Full Duplex? It looks like all LAN users will need to
off of the AS/400 system as TCP/IP must be stopped before this parameter
may be changed.
