Sorry to hear that Jeff. I did V5R3 to V5R4 over the weekend as well, and all went smooth. I used the HMC console, (from home over a VPN tunnel) and image catalogs set up last week with the upgrade CDs and the PTF Cume images FTP downloaded from fix central. It took a little longer to do from home, mostly because I would start a process, and walk away, come back later when it was done and waiting on me for the next step. I recommend the HMC (even if it is loud outside my office door) and image catalogs. I upgraded on a 520 with with 5 gig of main memory and 1 TBtye disk (after mirroring), and once I got to the actual upgrade and PTF Cume install, it only took about 3 hours total.
