We developed a web application for our customers to enter their own Floor Plan tickets. Or data entry department has been using a 5250 application for this for years. (Written in RPGII, that how old it is.) Well we tried to get our DE to use the web application, Talk about user efficiently going down the drain. We re-wrote the 5250 application in RPGIV for them. We tried to make the HTML version as close to the 5250 version but the 5250 thin clients out perform the web stuff hands down. I´m work for a company that develop iSeries aplications (using RPG and J2EE) for logistic and transport companies. We have two versions of ERP: in 5250 and Web (webfacing + J2EE aplications). Most of the companies decided use Web, but when they saw 5250 with Client Access, the decision was: "we like Client Access, i don´t want web. C.A. it´s more efficient, fast and we can emulate remote printers". Obviously, certain aplications must be in Web. Almost Company´s employers come back to 5250 when they attacked it.
