I completely agree. HMC is better in many ways even for a single i5 shop. Add in multiples and it's better yet.

You will need to use a WinDOHs based PC if you want to use graphical disk management but that's small potatoes and no reason to select LAN console in this environment.

Some clod suggested Twinax. I gotta find that guy and smack him. :-) IMHO there is no justifiable reason to ever use a twinax console again. Ever.

For a non-LPAR shop running 3 different 520s in 2 different locations (2
at one site and 1 at the other), would you choose an HMC or a LAN
Console setup?  Reliability, security, and managability are the main
concerns rather than a difference in cost.
