And once again, my reply is "twinax sucks".  In order to resolve an issue 
on my development lpar I had to run
- a RCLSTG with some traces turned on.
- RTVDSKINF
- another RCLSTG with other traces turned on.
- IPL
Using an HMC and a "shared" session, I ran this all from the comfort of my 
living room.
