Web browsing is easy to lock out. Thick client or thin client. No one here get's web access without a Notes workflow document routed through the Controller for their division. No one here gets an email account without same. Most of this is handled via Windows security. (No, that's not an oxymoron.) Now, locking them out of Excel but allowing them to use Word, or other such stuff will be different. Frankly I don't know how. But the web browsing and the email seems to be the stuff that most people are anal about. That, and perhaps solitaire. Web sites can also be limited so that they can get to ibm.com but not to raws@x dot com with a good tool like websense. Granted, it can be overly tightened like the people who can't browse whoswho.midrange.com because websense recognizes the picture of Lilo and Stitch next to Joe Pluta as "recreational" and blocks that.
