Are you talking about the Mythical Man Month? It's a great book, and much of what was written years and years ago is still very accurate. Two rather funny points, in one section he says that modularization is a fad, and he does not thing it will work well (If you get a more recent version he has an addendum where he states that history has show him to be incorrect on that point) and the other is that he encourages you to use a high level language instead of writing all of your code in assembly, which I don't think is a decision that many of us are considering any more. Apart from those two points it really does have a great deal of good information.
