Sanjiva: You can either assign a different partition as the :"service partition" or make the server know that the service partiton number is *NONE (no partition is the service partition). Then, you can delete any partition you wish. Please power it down first. The "service partition" designation has to do with from where updates to the firmware (the service processor microcode) is updated. Your choices are: The HMC (no service partition) using "out-of-band" updates or A specified i5/OS partition (the "service" partition) using "in-band" updates. In the HMC Server Information I could see a partition with system serial no and default profile I had created my partitions which were required and attached the necessary I/O to the new partitions I wanted to delete the partiton which had the serial no associated with it but could not as it said it was a service partition. This serial number partition has all the resources of the systems attached to it . How can i remove the resources from it or can i delete this partition ?
