Yes we had that also.

1. Look at WRKPRB at least once a week to make sure nothing of a hardware nature going haywire that you not already aware of. 2. Create a message queue QSYSMSG if you have not already done so. IBM then copies there the worst stuff (the Work Manual lists the messages that go there). Put DSPMSG QSYSMSG on a menu and check it every other day at least.

When I had a similarly described problem, it turned out to be the disk
cache battery.  There should be a way to find out in System Service
Tools, but I'm not sure where; it's been quite awhile
