Hmmm... I think you're right. In the dark recesses of my mind I remember them having to do something with an MX record the last time they broke this. I did set up the INTERNET USERS entry, but all it has in it is: Preferred address . . . : NETUSRID *IBM Address type . . . . : ATCONTXT The network guys here always seem to be amazed that we can send email without using 'their' mail router. Thanks, Larry! The issue is on their end most likely. If with Firewall(*YES) your mail gets to them then so does your external stuff but they aren't forwarding that for you. They should play nice and do that. In the other case the mail is going outside but not making it to them which smells like a DNS issue. That is the iSeries has either the wrong DNS server configured or it's the correct one but does not properly report the MX record for your mail server. It should reply with an Internal (i.e. private) IP address of the server. By the way the INTERNET USERS refers to an entry in the WRKDIRE which someone (perhaps yourself) has designated as the route to SMTP gateway in the CHGDSTA command. Hope this helps some! - Larry Ingvaldson, Scott wrote: > I have been sending alerts to my pager and reports to users for years > using SMTP with SMTPRTE(INTERNET USERS) > > This weekend our network folks retired an Exchange server and this > morning no users got their reports.
