In the Wells Fargo HTTP world via a browser if you are connecting using
with digital certificates you still have to click the "log on" button and
then it takes you to the page where you can upload your file.

In the iSeries world using HTTPAPI you connect and the certificate is
verified, they send you some redirects, you post your stream file, and
that's that. Exit points capture the cookie that they send to you and
handle sending it back on subsequent communications. Getting the cookie
may be the point of the browser log-in process.

I'm not sure why they would require a password with ftp if you were using
certificates but it may just be a universal connection point for them but
not get used if you've got a certificate. It could also be that they don't
really do ftp with digital certificates. I know that I've talked to some
of their customer service people who assume that everybody is connecting
from a Windows environment and don't have much to say if you get off of
their script. The 2nd-level folks are more knowledgeable.

They do not support anonymous. I think, as Mark stated, it's supposed to
be done via the client certificates.

Would a user name of anonymous resolve the issue, with no password?
