Here's what I have done in the past and been pretty successful ( haven't tried this to V5R4 )... The 30K foot level is #1 Order the 520 as a RISC to RISC or if it comes preloaded do a manual IPL to DST and clear the ASP. #2 Install the Base OS from CD #3 Use the Go Restore Option #21 to restore the rest of the system Be sure to say "YES" to Restore to a Different System #4 Now Use the Install License Program from the Go LICPGM menu to "upgrade" all the products and add any new you want. #5 Fix System values etc that are stored in QSYS #6 Use WRKHDWPRD to remap resources as required #7 Apply all the current PTFs (CUME, Groups etc ) #8 Test, Test and Test. _____________________ Kirk Goins CCNA Systems Engineer, Manage Inc.
