Can you give me the instructions for doing the rest of it? The hospital stay was just for my gallbladder (unfortunately). Slowed me down for a while. I hope to be back to full speed by COMMON. :) Deb -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces+debbiekelemen=hotmail.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces+debbiekelemen=hotmail.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Bipes Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 9:56 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: RE: Installing my First Concurrent Disk Drive - Any Tips? 1. Install all 4 drives and do not add to ASP. 2. Build raid 5 set with the 4 new drives. 3. Add new set to ASP and balance. Adding the drives does not make them available until you add to ASP or build new ASP. If you add to ASP prior to building RAID 5 you will really kill your system while it moves data around to build the RAID 5 striping. Takes seconds on empty drives that are not in use and days for drive that have been added to the ASP and are being used. Hope your hospital stay was not to serious and all is ok now. I'm in Colorado. Thanks for the offer to hand hold. I really appreciate it. I'm on V5R3 and I'm sure I'm raid 5. I actually have 4 drive total to add. The boss was unsure of me adding 4 in one day. So he thought I should do one today, then if it went well, I could do the other 3 tomorrow. So it sounds like I should either do two today & two tomorrow. Or bite the bullet & do all 4 today. The 4 days have been in the computer room in the box for over two weeks now. I was in the hospital when they arrived so we had a slight delay in me getting around to this.
