For PASE:

a) ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(PASE_PATH)
   VALUE('/QopenSys/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/foo:/bar')
   LEVEL(*SYS)

For QShell you need to put it in /etc/profile or $home/.profile. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to do this, can you elaborate? It's simply a matter of doing the following:

a) Edit (or create) the file called /etc/profile

b) Put the following line in it:
      export PATH=$PATH:/foo:/bar

(replace /foo and /bar with the directories you want in the path)

c) Save your changes.

Can anyone point me to the correct environment variable to set the default
path for QSH and QP2TERM?

The portable utilities program that installs SSH (5733-SC1) does not set
the path in QSH so it will work. I was hoping to avoid setting up a
.profile or /etc/profile structure if I could.
