Does anyone know what is affected if I change the System Name on CHGNETA but

leave the Local Control point name as is? Am I right in thinking that
iSeries Access looks at the LCP Name and not the System name?? Is there
anything apart from BRMS that might look at the System Name? (Snads is not
being used). Also, I know that it is recommended that the System Name and
LCP name should be the same, but does anyone know why?? I have trawled
through the previous correspondence/IBM stuff on this, and am still not
sure!
I would like to change the system names of the boxes that are still called

S+serialno to make things easier for international e-mail, but I don't want

to break anything on those systems.

These are for setting up the IBM STMP server to send mail.
They work like a charm.

They are for my MAILTOOL utility but should work for SNDDST
as well.  There's also the option of skipping this all
together with the use of my MAILTOOL utility which can send
emails and totally ignore/bypass with sometimes "unstable"
IBM STMP server.  You can check this out at

through your ISPs SMTP
server -- unless of course, you've got your own server
that you'd rather
use.  While it's possible for the iSeries to deliver the
mail directly, I
don't recommend it unless you know what you're doing. To
make e-mail go
through an SMTP relay:

        CHGSMTPA  MAILROUTER('smtp.myprovider.com')
FIREWALL(*YES)

e) Sometimes SNDDST will split messages up.  Turn it off
using the
following command (yes, this works even if you're not
using the POP
server):
        CHGPOPA    MSGSPLIT(*NOMAX)

f) To make SMTP start automatically when TCP/IP is
started:
        CHGSMTPA AUTOSTART(*YES)

g) To start SMTP manually:
        STRTCPSVR  SERVER(*SMTP)
