That is right - the Redbook (SG24-6503) Stored Procedures, Triggers, and User Defined Functions, says, on page 136, that you must use CLI, JDBC, or ODBC to get result sets from stored procedures. (I believe you can get array-style result sets, however.)

But there is no reason not to use the CLI stuff in RPG. There is a copy book called SQLCLI in QSYSINC/QRPGLESRC, but it has only some DS's for date, time, & timestamp.

The prototypes for all the CLI stuff is in C/C++ format in QSYSINC/H, member SQLCLI. You'd need to convert a lot of that - a useful exercise if someone has not done so already. Then you can use it all in RPG. Of course, you don't need to make a copy book for it all, just use the right data types.
