Yes. The local user would call program A. Program A would open a virtual terminal session with the desired application B and receive the related 5250 data stream. Program A would interrogate the data stream and determine if this is the "entry" panel -- if so feed in the appropriate data and send the data stream back to B; if not the "entry" panel then program A simply writes the data stream (presumeably the "change" panel) to the local device using a *USRDFN data stream, waits for data to be entered, and then sends the data stream to program B. In either case now wait for the next panel/data stream from B and loop. There's a 'bit more' to it but that's the essence of the program using the Virtual Terminal APIs. And yes I have written such an application in the distant past (RPG/400). Bruce Vining "Walden H. I thought about the virtual terminal APIs, but the original post mentioned "and then have the user take over control" so I assume it would start automated, but then get handed off to a real human. Can I transfer a virtual terminal to a real one? -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
