Hi there,

I am kind of new to AS/400 administration/maintenance (I have lots of
experience with Intel-based servers).

I have purchased new 10- 17.54 GB 10k RPM SCSI disk units to replace the
existing 10- 4.19 GB 7200 RPM SCSI disk units. In addition, I have
purchased a 2748 SCSI RAID controller (to maximize performance of the new
17.54 GB disk units) to replace the current 2740 SCSI RAID controller.

Here are the vital stats on our system:

AS/400 model 170 w/2176 processor backplane

1 GB of main memory (RAM)

10- 4.19 GB disk units in a RAID-5 array configuration

2740 RAID/SCSI controller

MLR1 Tape drive

CD ROM

OS/400 version V5R1

Can anyone tell me the best way to upgrade both the Disk units and SCSI
controller (assuming I do a FULL SYSTEM backup to tape)?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Kevin Yurcisin
