I'm not on site, but apparently the company that installed the racks did put what I would call the cheap version of power strips that run from floor to top of rack. I have taken your recommend for proper PDU's as well as a redundant power supply.btw... to add to this story, same company put into plans a building generator
-this is FT Lauderdale which see several close hurricanes a year.. but ownerkept delaying purchase... till they got hit hard last year & out for a week..
ordered generator for natural gas. Now can't get easement clearance (yet) to run pipe from street. When contractor saw natural gas at street, assumedno problem to get to back of building... Generator on site, sitting unconnected

I hope Jim was talking about a Power Distribution Unit (PDU) and not a free-after-rebate power strip from OfficeMax. John A. Jim's original post mentioned that he was using a "professional rack" so this isn't a typical power strip from Staples. <G> IIRC, the back of the i5 racks have power strips themselves, no? -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
