Not the answer you want, but we tried supplemental groups when this one 
guy hired in from another shop.  What used to take 4 minutes to do a 
SAVSYS jumped to 45 minutes.  IBM dialed in and checked it out and it was 
strictly because of the use of supplemental groups.  See PRTPVTAUT.  We 
switched over to authorization lists.
